Project Description

University of Illinois
Natural History Building

CHAMPAIGN, IL US 150,000 SF+

Built in 1894, and on the National Register of Historic Places, The Natural History Building at UIUC is antiquated for its current uses. TKB together with historic expert Walker Johnson, FAIA (JLA) joined together to undertake a comprehensive analysis and feasibility study of the structure and future academic uses.

Work included a study of the building as a home for the School of Earth, Society and the Environment (SESE). The purpose of the study included an comprehensive infrastructure assessment of the work required to bring the building into compliance, and a comprehensive programming and space planning process illustrating future potential.
